I am very proud
to be writing this report as Programme
Manager of RCRP, an organisation that
over the eight years it has been established,
has gained a reputation for delivery
of a high quality service to the most
vulnerable groups within and across
the communities of Rotherham. I am
also proud to lead a team of highly
motivated and committed staff that
embrace change and work hard to ensure
our client groups receive the best
service possible and, as our Chairman
has mentioned, it has been a year
of changes. Bev Lockwood, the Programme
Manager for six years left the organisation
in October and I took up the position
in November.
The
programme has focused its work on
delivering preventative services for
children, young people and families
across Rotherham, whilst ensuring
the long-term sustainability of the
Community Safety work by transferring
the Community Safety Co-ordinator
into RMBC’s Community Safety
Unit.
With
a new Programme Manager in Post and
a New Trustee on the Board, it was
an ideal opportunity to evaluate the
programme as a whole and re-visit
our vision and aims, and to enable
it to continue supporting vulnerable
children, young people and families
without stigma, we also took the opportunity
to look at the organisation’s
name, in line with that vision.
On
6th September, 2005, we will have
a re-launch of the Programme, which
will continue to be known as RCRP
- Rotherham Community Resource Programme
Trust Ltd., “Realising the Potential
in Communities”.
Our
new vision will become:
“An
organisation committed to providing
resourceful solutions to the current
social challenges faced by local people.”
Aims
of the Programme are:
1.
|
To
pioneer the development of integrated
programmes which address the
needs of individuals at risk. |
2.
|
To
contribute to a cohesive and
dynamic voluntary sector network
in Rotherham. |
3.
|
To
play an active role in those
Rotherham Partnerships where
their aims are consistent with
our stated mission. |
4.
|
To
increase the involvement of
local people in community-based
initiatives. |
5.
|
To
increase the capacity of local
communities to manage local
projects. |
6.
|
To
support the development and
sustainability of projects which
are successfully meeting the
social needs of local people. |
7.
|
To
continue to support our partner
organisations in achieving their
objectives. |
8.
|
To
maintain the current programme
of continuous workforce development. |
| 9.
|
To
utilise our skills in providing
a project management service. |
By
delivering these aims, we will continue
to support vulnerable children, young
people, families and communities across
Rotherham with the emphasis on preventative
work enabling us to improve life chances
and experiences and raise expectations
and achievements for those most at
risk.
Throughout
2004-2005, every member of the organisation
has worked hard to ensure we deliver
a service of high quality that meets
the needs of our beneficiaries and
achieves the outcomes and outputs
established, with the vital support
form the Core team, Wendy, Jeanette
and Angela, who although are not out
in the field delivering services,
are critical to an organisation like
ours ensuring a framework is in place
to meet eh ever changing demands of
a successful organisation.
I
would like to take this opportunity
to thank the Trustees and staff team
for the work they contributed to the
development of RCRP and the support
they have given me during my first
six months in post. I
hope with this Annual Report to give
a flavour of the work we do and an
understanding of the impact that work
has on our communities in Rotherham.
